District Guide
Shah Alam is the capital of Selangor and nothing short of a dynamic city. Coming a long way from being a plantation, it was officially stamped as a “city” recently, in 2000. It attracts tourism as much as residents with its numerous attractions like its Wet World Waterpark and for its homage to the arts with the Shah Alam Royale Theatre, the Garden of Islamic Arts and Muzium Sultan Alam Shah or the Selangor State Museum. The experience continues with its many malls, namely the SACC, Anggerik and the Plaza Alam Sentral, among others. Necessity shopping is provided by Tesco and Giant.
Educationally, it offers an abundance of choices, from technical schooling (Universiti Teknologi MARA) to scientific studies (Management and Science University or MSU) to industrial studies (Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah). Naturally, it has plenty of primary and secondary schools to choose from. Medically, it has the Columbia Asia medical Centre and even a private centre dedicated to hearing loss. Not losing its mass appeal, even it’s most famous mosque, named after Sultan Salahuddin Abdhul Aziz or more commonly dubbed as the blue Mosque, holds a staggering 25,000 worshippers at a time!
