Permas Jaya or Bandar Baru Permas Jaya is located in Johor and situated in Johor Bahru. The area, like Kota Damansara in Selangor, is numerically partitioned. Only it is just the residential estates that get the honour this time. Housing developments in the area mainly comprise of high rise condominiums like Straits View for one, equipped with everything from a swimming pool to a gymnasium. Other than luxury housing, the Permas Jaya also has its own sports complex, library, golf course and malls. The latter includes the massive Jaya Jusco. As far as places of worship go, the Vinayagar Temple (a Hindu temple) proves the most iconic in the area with its history.
It is said that the site itself was discovered by a woman guided by visions of the Hindu Goddess Durga. It even holds its own festival called the Vinayagar Chathurthi festival. Thus, the area is a residential hotspot attracting people mainly from a higher financial bracket like businessmen. Another reason is its locale as it is in between the heart of JB and shipping port Pasir Gudang, making for convenient commuting from home to work and back via the Pasir Gudang Highway. The Johor Bahru Coastal Highway, a project said to be completed by December 2011, will furthermore help commuters travel.
